Charlotte Dreifurst, of Columbus, died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2019, at Bergan-Mercy Hospital in Omaha.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Friday, Jan. 11, 2019, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Columbus with the Rev. Ross Burkhalter officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday at St. Anthony’s, with a Vigil service at 7 p.m., also at the church. Visitation continues from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Friday at St. Anthony’s. Interment is at All Saints Cemetery. A lunch will follow at the St. Anthony's Social Hall
Charlotte Dreifurst was born Jan. 12, 1939, in Carlinville, Illinois, to Dennis and Helen (Lachnit) Paproski. She grew up in Albion, Nebraska, where she attended Albion High School. Charlotte went on to attend St. Catherine Hospital School of Nursing (now the College of St. Mary) in Omaha.
On June 3, 1961, she was united in marriage to Cyril “Moon” Dreifurst at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Columbus. Charlotte was a carefree loving mother to her children and all of their friends. She loved reading, Husker football, and with her husband Moon, attended all of their children’s and grandchildren’s events. Charlotte also loved camping. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church where she was a part of perpetual adoration and was an EME, St. Theresa Sodality, and the Red Hat Society. She will always be known for her ability to find the humor in any and all situations.
She is survived by son Steve (Darcie) Blomberg of Jacksonville, Florida, Chris (Lynette) Dreifurst of Columbus, Ben (Vernalie) Dreifurst of Columbus, Mike Dreifurst of Columbus, Joey (Jeannie) Dreifurst of Columbus and Mark Dreifurst of Columbus; daughter, Shelley (Ron) Brougham of Omaha; 18 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Dennis and Helen Paproski; husband, Cyril “Moon” Dreifurst; granddaughters Lauren Blomberg and Brylee Dreifurst; great-grandson, Spencer Reed; great granddaughter, Charlotte (Charlie) Moon Downie; brothers-in-law; Donald "Stetz" Dreifurst, Elwin Shupe and Gene Hall; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Holley, Victoria (Don) Brandenburg and Rosie Hall.
