Charlotte Dreifurst, of Columbus, died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2019, at Bergan-Mercy Hospital in Omaha.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 11, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Columbus, with the Rev. Ross Burkhalter officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 10, at St. Anthony's, with a vigil service at 7 p.m., also at the church. Visitation will continue from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Friday at St. Anthony's. Interment will be at All Saints Cemetery. A lunch will follow at St. Anthony's Social Hall
Charlotte Dreifurst was born Jan. 12, 1939, in Carlinville, Illinois, to Dennis and Helen (Lachnit) Paproski. She grew up in Albion, where she attended Albion High School. Charlotte went on to attend St. Catherine Hospital School of Nursing (now the College of St. Mary) in Omaha. On June 3, 1961, she was united in marriage to Cyril “Moon” Dreifurst at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Columbus. Charlotte was a carefree loving mother to her children and all of their friends. She loved reading, Husker football, and with her husband, Moon, attended all of their children's and grandchildren's events. Charlotte also loved camping. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, where she was a part of perpetual adoration and was an EME, member of St. Theresa Sodality, and member of the Red Hat Society. She will always be known for her ability to find the humor in any and all situations.
She is survived by son, Steve (Darcie) Blomberg of Jacksonville, Florida; son, Chris (Lynette) Dreifurst of Columbus; son, Ben (Vernalie) Dreifurst of Columbus; son, Mike Dreifurst of Columbus; daughter, Shelley (Ron) Brougham of Omaha; son, Joey (Jeannie) Dreifurst of Columbus; son, Mark Dreifurst of Columbus; 18 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother-in-law, Bill (Bev) Dreifurst of Columbus; sister-in-law, Donna (Frank) Laska of Columbus; sister-in-law, Jane (Bob) Pensick of Columbus; brother-in-law, Dale Holley of Columbus; and sister-in-law, Velma Shupe of Columbus.
She is preceded in death by parents, Dennis and Helen Paproski; husband, Cyril “Moon” Dreifurst; granddaughters, Lauren Blomberg and Brylee Dreifurst; great-grandson, Spencer Reed; great-granddaughter, Charlotte (Charlie) Moon Downie; brother-in-law, Donald 'Stetz' Dreifurst; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Holley; sister-in-law, Victoria (Don) Brandenburg; sister-in-law, Rosie Hall; brother-in-law, Elwin Shupe; and brother-in-law, Gene Hall.
