Cynthia Marie “Cindy” LaCroix, 62, of Norfolk, died Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at her residence in Norfolk following a valiant 15-year battle with lung cancer.
No services will be held.
Cindy was born June 23, 1956, in Columbus to Jim and Rose (Bosak) Weldon. She attended grade school in Columbus, and graduated from Columbus High School. She then attended both Northeast Community College and Wayne State College. On Feb. 14, 1977, she married Gene LaCroix. The couple lived in Norfolk, where they raised their son, Jason.

Cindy was employed at Nebraska Public Power District for 42 years, starting her career as a general clerk in Columbus, transferring to NPPD's Regional Office in Norfolk, and progressing to supervisor at NPPD's Customer Care Center.
Born with a passion for life, Cindy loved flowers and gardening. She was an avid reader and a lifetime learner. She enjoyed her annual fishing and camping excursions with Gene, and couldn't get enough of her family trips to various locations throughout the United States and abroad with her mother, sisters, and sister-in-law.
Survivors include her husband, Gene of Norfolk; son, Jason of Yankton, South Dakota; step-son, Taven of Tecumseh; parents, Jim and Rose Weldon of Columbus; sisters, Kelley (Dan) Schaecher of Omaha, Sherri Jo (Bob) Wehrs of Milford; brother, Scott (Michelle) Weldon of Lincoln; and many nieces and nephews.
