Darlene Korus, 90, of Lindsay, entered into eternal life Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2019, at Mid-Nebraska Lutheran Home in Newman Grove.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 26, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lindsay, with the Rev. Eric Olsen, Rev. Jim Novotny, and Rev. Jim Kramper celebrating the Mass. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 25, with a 7 p.m. vigil service, all at the church. Visitation will continue from 9 a.m. until service time on Tuesday. Memorials may be directed to those of family choice.
Darlene Korus was born Jan. 19, 1929, in Platte County, to Frank and Isabelle (Schaefer) Albracht. She attended school at St. Bernard through the eighth grade, and then went on to work at the Gambles Store in Humphrey until she was united in marriage to John Korus of Tarnov on Jan. 25, 1949, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Humphrey.

Darlene operated “Darlene's Home Safety” from 1974–1999. She was an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Ladies Guild, and Legion Auxiliary. Darlene enjoyed traveling, playing cards, and was a fantastic cook. She enjoyed quilting, and donated over 900 quilts over the years to the homeless. Darlene enjoyed music, but her greatest love and enjoyment was spending time with her family.
Darlene is survived by son, Lonnie Korus of Omaha; son, Tom (Sue) Korus of Lindsay; son, LeRoy (Elaine) Korus of Kearney; son, Dan (Cathy) Korus of Lindsay; daughter, Ann (Don) Fischer of Lincoln; daughter, Lori (Keith) Langan of Norfolk; son, Dale (Mary Sue) Korus of Arlington; son, John “Jay” Korus of Lincoln; daughter, Coni (Bruce) Masteller of Lindsay; 33 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Bill Albracht of Broken Bow.
Preceded in death by parents, Frank and Isabelle (Schaefer) Albracht; husband, John Korus; daughter-in-law, Carol Korus; grandson, David Mathew Korus; brothers, Alphonse and Clarence “Bud” Albracht; sisters: Clara Backes, Helen Breidert, Mildred Dahlhauser, Gertrude Faltin, Loretta Finn, Alvina Chevrier, Germaine Schmidt and Bonnie Helmberger.
