COLUMBUS — Donald Dahlkoetter, 88, died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018, at Brookestone Acres in Columbus.

A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 5, at McKown Funeral Home in Columbus. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery in Columbus with military honors by the American Legion Hartman Post 84 Honor Guard. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday and 8:30-10:30 a.m. Friday, all at the funeral home.

Donald D. Dahlkoetter was born Aug. 29, 1929, on a farm east of Norfolk to William and Margaret (Rathman) Dahlkoetter. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from May 1951 to May 1953. In 1954, Don started Midwest Glass in Columbus with Dean Ott. In 1956, he married Mary Devine in Yankton, South Dakota. Don was a member of St. Bonaventure Church, Knights of Columbus, VFW #3704 and the Elks Club. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and spending time with family.

He is survived by his son Joe (Bev) Dahlkoetter of Grand Island; son Mike Strong of Kansas City, Missouri; grandson Casey Dahlkoetter of Grand Island; brother Robert Dahlkoetter of Norfolk; sister Joanne Hrabak of Norfolk; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents William and Margaret Dahlkoetter; wife Mary Dahlkoetter; brothers Ralph and Alvin Dahlkoetter; sisters Wilma Palmer and Ellen Dahlkoetter; brothers-in-law Gordon Hrabak and Gene Palmer; and sister-in-law Lillian Dahlkoetter.
