GENOA — Jackie Johnson, 74, of Genoa, Nebraska, died Saturday, April 21, 2012, at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.
The funeral service will be Wednesday, April 25, 1:30 p.m. at the Congregational Church in Genoa with Pastor Carl Edwards officiating. Interment will be in the Valley View Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Ramaekers Patrick Funeral Chapel in Genoa and on Wednesday from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the church.
Jackie Johnson was born March 14, 1938, in Genoa to Jack and Eileen (Beecroft) Curtis. Jackie grew up in Genoa and graduated from Genoa High School in 1955. She attained her Teachers Certificate and taught for a few years at several District schools. Jackie married Charles Ferris and they had two children, Deb and Lance. She went to work for the U.S. Post Office in 1963 and worked there until her retirement in 1993. On November 29, 1991, Jackie was united in marriage to Ed Johnson in Genoa. Jackie was a member of the Congregational Church. She was a member of the Mail Carriers Association and a Girl Scout leader. Jackie loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and also took very good care of her mom. She enjoyed bowling, stamp collecting, beanie babies, and going to country music concerts.
Jackie is survived by her husband, Ed Johnson of Genoa; daughter, Deb Ferris of Norfolk; son, Lance (Teresa) Ferris of Monroe; son, Mitch (Mel) Johnson of Eudoro, KS; daughter, Michelle (Bob) Anderson of Genoa; daughter, Lisa (Joel) Berggren of Weston; daughter: Jenny (Jon) Schell of Wymore; 18 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; brother, Gary (Sue) Curtis of Columbus; 2 nephews
Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, Jack & Eileen Curtis.
