June 18, 192 -- Sept. 4, 2018

Janet Kosch, 93, of Spokane, Washington, passed on to her eternal home on Sept. 4, 2018.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shelby with Rev. Leo Seiker celebrating the Mass. Interment will be in the Shelby Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30–10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15, at the church with a rosary at 10 a.m.

Janet was born June 18, 1925, in York, as the only child of Anton Weaver and Mary Elaine (Tobey) Dullum. She attended country school between Gresham and Shelby and graduated from Gresham High School in 1942. She then attended a business college in Lincoln and later worked at an insurance office before her marriage. Janet was united in marriage to Harold L. Kosch in Shelby on April 22, 1947. They had 11 children and raised their family on their farm north of Shelby. She worked a number of years at the Polk County Assessor's Office in Osceola and also ran for public office in Polk County.

The family moved to Spokane, Washington in 1978, where Janet worked at Houston Hearing Aid as a licensed audiologist until 2010 when she retired at the age of 85. Janet was an avid reader and loved to play Bridge, which she learned to play at the age of 80. She had a keen sense of humor, especially later in her life. Janet enjoyed her flower gardens and traveling throughout the U.S. and abroad with her husband in their later years. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1997 and later that year her husband passed away.

Faith was an extremely important part of her life and for many years participated in Eucharist Adoration. As a devoted wife and mother of 11 children, Janet became well adapted at handling the life's many challenges that came her way. Her strength and faith helped her prepare for her final journey.

Janet is survived by daughter Linda (Allen) Kuzelka of Hastings, son Chris (Dee) Kosch of Reno, Nevada; daughter Jackie (Tom) Martens of Columbus, son Brian (Audrey) Kosch of San Francisco; daughter Michelle (Mark) Gable of Colbert, Washington; daughter Lisa (Joe) Kostohryz of Medina, Ohio; daughter-in-law Deb Kosch of Columbus; 18 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

Janet was preceded in death by parents Anton and Mary Dullum, husband Harold Kosch, five sons: Greg, Francis “Franc”, Kevin, Bruce, and infant son Ronald.
