Jean Jindra, 89, of Clarkson, died Thursday, July 4, 2019, at Brookstone Acres in Columbus.
A funeral service will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 9, at New Zion Presbyterian Church in Clarkson, with the Rev. Steve Niles officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, July 8, and from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the church. Committal will be in the Clarkson National Cemetery. Lunch will be held in the church basement following the committal. Memorials may be made to New Zion Presbyterian Church.

Jean was born April 12, 1930, in Pierce County, to John and Helen (Kouba) Silhacek. She attended District #56 and graduated from high school in 1948. On June 11, 1948, she married Edwin Jindra at the Congregational Church in Pierce. They farmed their entire married life on a farm near Clarkson, working side by side. Gardening, quilting, baking, helping in all phases of the farm operation and genealogy were all very important to her. Her family was the joy of her life.
Jean is survived by her two children, Linda (Gorton) Smith of Las Cruces, New Mexico, and Roger Jindra of Clarkson; seven grandchildren: Vanessa (Brian) Cumming of St. Edward, Jennifer (Brian) Kappel of Clarkson, Sommer (Adam) Fousek of Hickman, Nicholas Jindra and Lydia Smith of Clarkson, Brooke Jindra and fiancée Bryce Theilen of Clarkson, Bryanna (Ben) Grod of Porter, Texas, Wesley (Jennifer) Smith of Las Cruces; 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and sister-in-law, Mardell Silhacek of Pierce.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter-in-law, Gayedene Jindra; and brother, Carol Silhacek.
