Julene Kummer, 88, of Columbus, peacefully went to her eternal rest on Sunday, June 30, 2019, at CHI Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday, July 5, at St. Luke's United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Adam Lassen officiating. There will be a private family interment at the Gruetli Cemetery in rural Monroe. Visitation will be from 3-4 p.m. on Friday at the church, with a 3:45 p.m. family prayer service. Memorials may be directed to Gruetli Cemetery Association.

Julene was born in Lynch, to Albert Rakowsky and Nelda Kurpgeweit on July 15, 1930. She was married to the LOVE of her life, Elmer Kummer, on June 20, 1948. The union was blessed with six children: Paula J. Kummer (husband, Ronald Bird) of San Antonio, Texas; Cheryl Jones of Burlington, Washington; Bea Sides (husband, Denny) of Omaha; William Kummer (wife, Diana) of Denver; Allan Kummer of Columbus; and Richard Kummer (wife, Connie) of Winsboro, Texas. Julene was a devoted wife, homemaker, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a lifelong member of the St Luke's-Gruetli United Church of Christ.
Family members include grandchildren: Bronson and Faerine Ketchum, Jason and Adam Sides, Elizabeth and David Jones, Tanya Kummer Scherling, James Chastain, Chris Kummer; 17 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Julene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elmer; grandson, Cory Kummer; grandson, Jayden Chastain; and brother, Jerry Mauer.
