Keith Ray Williams
August 9, 1974-April 25, 2019
Keith Ray Williams, 44, of Fullerton, peacefully died in the arms of his Lord on Thursday, April 25, 2019, at his home, surrounded by his family. It was through his ability to live with cancer that he found his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. This continues to give his family great comfort and peace.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 30, at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Fullerton, with the Rev. Allen Pingel officiating. For the service, overflow seating will be at the new gym at Fullerton Public Schools across the street from the church. Burial will follow at Fullerton Cemetery in Fullerton. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, April 29 at the church. Memorials are suggested to the family for designation at a later date.
Keith was born on the morning of Aug. 9, 1974, under President Nixon, while his twin sister was born in the afternoon under President Ford. His parents are Richard and Patricia (O'Hern) Williams. He graduated from Fullerton Public Schools in 1993, where he discovered his artistic talent in drawing, creating, and building. He refined those skills at Hastings Community College. He worked for Newquist Construction in Fullerton, where he built houses and custom projects. After being diagnosed with cancer on May 4, 2015, he decided to become self-employed. He continued in the construction business until the time of his death.
Keith's greatest creations were the children he had after marrying his high school sweetheart, Jessica Umstead. They began their life together with a class ring on March 3, 1993 in Keith's Regal, white with a maroon top. They were united in marriage on July 10, 1999. It was not part of their plan, but more importantly God's plan, that three children blessed this marriage: Major (15), Josie (12), and Riley (9). Keith taught his children how to have a strong work ethic regardless of the outcome, the determination (or perhaps more accurately, stubbornness) to accomplish their goals, and the sense of humor (sometimes naughty) to overcome life's obstacles. They share his love of 80's-90's music, dry humored movies, bull terriers, and Texas A&M Aggie football.
Keith was proud to be a part of the Fullerton Volunteer Fire Department and an archery/rifle instructor for 4-H shooting sports. His proudest moments shared with his family were his baptism on April 9, 2019, and his first communion on April 21, 2019. He died a member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church.
Those left to continually love him are his wife, Jessica; son, Major, daughter, Josie, and son, Riley, all of Fullerton; and in keeping with Keith's humor, a fictional son, Todd; his mother, Patricia Williams of Fullerton; his siblings, Jack (Nanette) Williams of Omaha, Cindy (Tom) Vanicek of Schuyler, Alan Williams of Ravenna, Lisa Williams of Fullerton, Kim Schoepf of Seward; close family friend, Cathy Swedenburg of Stromsburg; father and mother-in-law, Steve and Neva Umstead of Fullerton; brothers-in-law, Leslie Umstead of Dickinson, North Dakota, Buck (Sara) Umstead of Archer, and Keith (Michelle Beed) Umstead of Fullerton; many nieces and nephews; and many friends who will miss his kind heart and sarcastic comments.
Keith is preceded in death by his father, Richard Williams; brother-in-law, Jeramie Schoepf; and grandparents, Melvin and Ina Williams and Bernard and Roberta O'Hern.
