Lorraine Zabka, 86, of Columbus, died Thursday, June 6, 2019, at her home in Columbus.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 11, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Leigh, with the Rev. Rod Kneifl celebrating the Mass. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, June 10, with a 7 p.m. vigil service, all at the church. Visitation will continue from 8:30 a.m. until service time on Tuesday at the church. Memorials are suggested to St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Lorraine Zabka was born May 17, 1933, in Howells, to Stanley and Bessie (Houdek) Stepanek. She graduated from Clarkson High School, and on June 14, 1950, was united in marriage to Ivan Zabka at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Omaha. The couple settled on Ivan's family farm. Over the years, Lorraine worked several jobs to help support the family. She did her own sewing, gardening, and drove truck with Ivan. She loved flowers, was an excellent quilter, enjoyed going on family fishing trips, and was a strong Christian woman. Lorraine was a very active and faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Lorraine is survived by son, Bob (Pauline) Zabka of Swea City, Iowa; son, Mike (Janet) Zabka of Norfolk; son, Tim (Jane) Zabka of Leigh; daughter, Kay (Jim) Pofahl of Norfolk; nine grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren.
Lorraine was preceded in death by parents, Stanley and Bessie Stepanek; husband, Ivan Zabka; granddaughter, Tammi Renee Zabka; grandson, Matt Conlan; sister, Doris Griffitts.
