COLUMBUS -- Mark Kobus, 79, died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018, at Columbus Community Hospital.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 562 17th Ave. in Columbus. Military honors by Hartman Post #84 American Legion Honor Guard will follow Mass. Interment All Saints Cemetery in Columbus.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, with a 7 p.m. vigil, and 10-11 a.m. Thursday, all at St. Anthony Catholic Church.
Mark John Kobus was born May 6, 1938, in Columbus to Pete and Frances (Czapla) Kobus. He grew up in Columbus and graduated from St. Bonaventure High School. He served in the U.S. Navy before returning to Columbus where he worked at Behlen Manufacturing for 31 years. Mark enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, Husker football, but mostly spending time with his children and grandchildren telling them amazing stories. He also enjoyed sharing his food adventures with anyone who would listen. Mark was a member of St. Anthony Church and the Eagle's Club
Mark is survived by wife Connie Vetick Kobus of Columbus; son Todd (Gillian) Kobus of Macomb, Michigan; daughter Tracy (Keith) Duncan of Columbus; daughter Melinda Kobus (Special Friend Melissa Merrill) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; grandchildren Amber Robinson, Korby Kobus, Hunter Kobus and Fischer Kobus, Zachary, Noah and Gracie Duncan; sister Therese (Don) Eversoll of Ft. Collins, Colorado; sister Mary (Tom) Gablenz of Cheyenne, Wyoming.
He is preceded in death by parents Pete and Frances Kobus, brother-in-law Emil Jarecki and parents-in-law Carl and Helen Vetick.
