Mary Alice Beckler

Mary Alice Beckler passed away peacefully with her husband, Loren Beckler, at her side on Monday, June 17, 2019, at Legacy House in Las Vegas.
A memorial service with a lunch following is planned for 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 13, at the First United Methodist Church, 2710 14th St. in Columbus. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the First United Methodist Church, www.columbusfumc.com, or to the Alzheimers's Association, www.alz.org, in Mary's name.
Mary was born on Dec. 6, 1932 in Winside, to William and Charlotte Wylie, the third child of their six children: Bruce, Helen, Wilma, Ruth and Bill. She graduated from Winside High School in 1950.
Mary met Loren on Memorial Day 1951, fell in love, but were interrupted by the Korean War. After two years of her writing daily letters, they were married on April 15, 1953 by her grandfather, a Methodist minister in Winside. They had four children: Randy (Denise) Beckler, Jan (Wayne) Hermans, Todd (Cindy) Beckler, and Josi (Mark) Wilgus; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. They were married for 66 years.
Mary worked as an office manager at Columbus Industrial Engineering Company, retiring in December of 1998. She and Loren were members of the First United Methodist Church for more than 50 years. They loved playing golf, bridge and dancing. Many memories were made vacationing with family and friends.
