Melvin Jisa, 87, of Columbus, died Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at Morys Haven in Columbus.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 16, at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church, with the Rev. Michael Swanton officiating. Military honors will be conducted by Hartman Post #84 American Legion Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 5-6 p.m. on Monday, April 15, with a 6 p.m. vigil service, all at McKown Funeral Home. Visitation will continue from 8:30-9:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning, also at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery in Brainard.
Melvin Ludvik Jisa was born April 9, 1932, in Butler County, to Ludvik and Mary (Bohaty) Jisa. He grew up in Garrison and graduated from David City High School in 1951. Melvin served in the Air Force during the Korean War from 1951 until 1955.
Melvin lived in Chicago and the Dallas-Ft. Worth area where he worked for Braniff Airlines for 28 years. He was a member of St. Bonaventure Catholic Church.
Melvin is survived by daughter, Angela (Mike) Harvey of Justin, Texas; grandson, River Harvey of Justin; sister, Betty Keller of Columbus; nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by parents, Ludvik and Mary Jisa; wife, Vada; wife, Terrylu; sister, Elaine Demuth.
