ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Nancy Jane Drevo, 34, of Alexandria, Virginia, peacefully and unexpectedly passed away in her sleep.

Nancy was born on March 30, 1982, in Columbus to Dennis and Karen (Wyatt) Drevo. She moved to Norfolk with her family in August 1987, just in time to begin kindergarten at Bel Air Elementary School. Nancy attended Norfolk Public Schools, kindergarten through grade 12, and graduated with honors from Norfolk Public High School with the Class of 2000.

Nancy was a company dancer for over 10 years at Norfolk’s “Dance, Etc.”; she participated in band, grades 5-12, and was a marching band drum major her senior year; she was a Pink Panther; she participated in the high school choral music program, including a trip to New York City to sing at Carnegie Hall; and she was a Pink Lady in the high school production of “Grease” her senior year. Nancy loved working for Al and Donna Franklin at Bailey’s Bistro in Norfolk for several years. Nancy graduated with honors from Northeast Community College in May 2011. In May 2016, she graduated with honors from Wayne State College with a dual major of public accounting and finance and a minor in international business. At the time of her death, she was employed as an accountant at Kearney and Company of Alexandria, Virginia.

Nancy was a member of Delta Sigma Pi; Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society; Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society; and Chi Alpha Epsilon Honor Society. She was a board member of the Nebraska State Rehabilitation Council, 2014-16.

Nancy participated in the International Scholar Laureate Program in Beijing, Hangzhou, and Shanghai, China, in 2014. She studied abroad throughout Europe the spring semester of 2015. The summer of 2015, Nancy was an intern for the American Public Power Association in Washington, D.C.

Nancy was a talented musician and composer. She loved to attend the Sioux City Symphony season with her mother. She also enjoyed attending Broadway shows, her favorites being “Jersey Boys” and “The Book of Mormon.” She also had a great passion for dance.

Nancy was preceded in death by her father, Dennis; and paternal grandparents, Stanley and Irene Drevo of Crete.

Nancy is survived by her mother, Karen of Norfolk; brother, Sam of Norfolk; sister, Susan of Little Rock, Arkansas; niece, Lauren Drevo of Norfolk; maternal grandparents, Glen and Susie Wyatt of Syracuse; boyfriend, John Medlin of Sterling, Virginia; and her beloved dog, Charlie, who now makes his home with John Medlin in Sterling, Virginia. Many loving aunts, uncles and cousins also survive Nancy.

Nancy was strong in her Christian faith, bravely living a daily struggle with mental illness. Nancy’s family invites all who knew Nancy to join them at a celebration of life on Nancy’s birthday, March 30, at Franklin’s Bistro in Norfolk from 7-10 p.m.
