Ralph Olson, 73, of Columbus, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2019, at his home in Columbus.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 11, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbus, with the Rev. Brandon Foster officiating. Interment will be in the All Saints Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4–7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 10, at Gass Haney Funeral Home, and from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Friday at the church, with a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m.
Ralph was born Aug. 11, 1945, in Columbus, to Hulda Barr. He attended school in Columbus and graduated from Columbus High School in 1963. Ralph worked for RVW Inc. for many years before going to work for N.P.P.D., where he continued to work until his retirement. On May 17, 1996, Ralph was united in marriage to Phyllis Oppliger in Columbus. Ralph enjoyed traveling, especially his fishing trips to Minnesota. He liked going to trinket shops and drinking coffee in the morning with friends. Ralph enjoyed watching old black and white western movies, watching sports, and playing cards.
Ralph is survived by wife, Phyllis Olson, of Columbus; beloved dog, Fordee; son, Jeff (Karen) Olson of Deerfield, Wisconsin; daughter, Reneé (Rick) Bohaty of Lincoln; stepson, Travis (April) Prokupek of Shelby; stepson, Rick Prokupek of Reston, Virginia; stepdaughter, Samantha (Tyler) Hehn of Georgetown, Texas; eight grandchildren: Lindsay Olson of Columbus, Cierra Olson of Columbus, Chase Olson of Deerfield, Wisconsin, Zachary Olson of Deerfield, Wisconsin, Hailey Bohaty of Tempe, Arizona, Xavier Cancél of Fairbanks, Alaska, Celeste Cancél of Shelby and Trinity Prokupek of Shelby; great-grandson, Jonah Olson of Columbus; brother, John (Marlene) Olson of Columbus; and sister, Cindy (Steve) Haave of Colorado.
Ralph was preceded in death by mother, Hulda Barr; sister, Mary Schmidt; and brother, Roger Olson.
