Rita Jazwick, 55, of Platte Center, died Monday, Aug. 12, 2019, at her home west of Platte Center.

The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 16, at Christ Lutheran Church, rural Columbus, with the Rev. Aaron Witt officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 15, at Gass Haney Funeral Home, and will continue from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Friday at the church. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. on Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Christ Lutheran Church, School, or Choir.

Rita Joyce Jazwick was born Dec. 7, 1963, in Columbus, to Norman and Elaine (Bremer) Korte. She was a lifelong member of Christ Lutheran Church. Rita was baptized and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church, and attended Christ Lutheran Grade School. She graduated from Lakeview High School, and on Aug. 31, 1984, was united in marriage to Tim Jazwick at Christ Lutheran Church.

Rita was a woman full of energy and zest. She played basketball in high school, coached girls' basketball at Christ Lutheran School, was a member of the Lakeview Football Boosters, and loved following her children in their activities. Rita loved to travel and visited several countries overseas. She loved to cook, bake, garden, and meet with her “girl's book club.” Rita was a hardworking, self-driven, passionate individual, who was not afraid to get her hands dirty working beside Tim as his right hand “man” on the farm. She shared her love for singing in the church choir.

Rita is survived by husband, Tim Jazwick of Platte Center; daughter, Amber (Michael) Behrens of Madison; son, Dusty (Dr. Lauren) Jazwick of Omaha; son, Josh Jazwick of Tempe, Arizona; son, Justin Jazwick of Colorado Springs, Colorado; parents, Norman and Elaine Korte of Columbus; sister, Lisa (Tom) Reichmuth of Leigh; brother, Jon (Shelly) Korte of Columbus; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
