Robert F. Nyffeler, 93, of Columbus, died Friday, June 28, 2019, at Columbus Community Hospital.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 3, at St. Luke's UCC, with the Rev. Adam Lassen officiating. Family interment in Columbus Cemetery with military honors by The American Legion, Hartman Post 84 Honor Guard, will take place prior to the service. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2, at Gass Haney Funeral Home. There will be a family prayer service at 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday at the church. Memorials are those of the donor's choice.

Robert “Bob” Nyffeler was born Aug. 5, 1925, in Columbus, to Robert and Charlotte (Uhlmann) Nyffeler. He attended rural schools and graduated from Monroe High School in 1942. Bob entered the United States Army on Sept. 1, 1950, and was honorably discharged on Aug. 31, 1952, serving during the Korean War. On Jan. 17, 1953, Bob was united in marriage to Bonnie Burruss. He was employed by Loup Power District for 31 years, retiring in 1988. Bob enjoyed woodworking, gardening, landscaping, and many other interests. Most of all, Bob enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a member of St. Luke's United Church of Christ and the American Legion.

Bob is survived by wife, Bonnie Nyffeler of Columbus; daughter, Carol (Darrel) Osten of Columbus; son Michael (Roberta) Nyffeler of Orlando, Florida; daughter, Lynne (Steve) Nye of Fort Worth, Texas; son, Warren (Diana) Nyffeler of Elkhorn; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Touzalin of Lakewood, Colorado; many nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by parents, Robert and Charlotte Nyffeler; sister, Ida Burgisser; brother, Arthur Nyffeler.
