COLUMBUS — Robert Wilson, 82, of Columbus, died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017, at Crown Villa in Columbus.
A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13, at Word of Life Church in Columbus with Pastor Mariano Menendez officiating. Interment will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Greenwood Cemetery in York. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Gass Haney Funeral Home in Columbus and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice.
Robert “Bob” Wilson was born Oct. 27, 1934, in Newton, Iowa, to Ward and Blance (Staley) Wilson. Bob and his mother moved to York in 1947. Bob graduated from York High School in 1952 and went to work for NPPD and York Bank before moving to California where he worked for Rocketdyne Engineering. He was later transferred to England for two years working for Rocketdyne.
Bob was united in marriage to Sheryl Lovell in 1957 and to this union three children were born, Melissa, Shawn and Amanda. In 2013, Bob married Shirley (Frye) Rains of York. Three stepchildren, seven step-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren and one step-great-great-grandchild were added to the family.
Bob is survived by his wife Shirley Wilson of Columbus; daughter Melissa (Dan) Schultz of Columbus; son Shawn (Marsha) Wilson of Lincoln; daughter Amanda (Dave) Enquist of Palmer; grandchildren Courtney Wilson of Austin, Texas, Ashley Fredricks of Palmer, Caroline Wilson of Lincoln and Andrew Enquist of Kearney; two great-grandchildren; stepdaughter Margaret Rains of Columbus; stepson Scott (Connie) Rains of Morrison, Colorado; stepson Rick (Angie) Rains of Littleton, Colorado; seven step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and one step-great-great-grandchild.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents Ward and Blance Wilson; first wife Sheryl Wilson; two sisters; and three brothers-in-law.
