The farm has been in the family over 100 years and Stanley was given the Nebraska Pioneer Farm Award in 2015.

His hobbies included fishing trips to South Dakota, pheasant hunting and trapping with his sons. He also enjoyed playing the Taroks card game until his death. He enjoyed listening to and playing polka music on his button accordion. He especially enjoyed sharing stories about farming and all the changes from the original horse era to today's modern methods.
