Verona Louise Schoepf was born July 27, 1940, in Utica, to Victor and Leona (Maronde) Gierhan. She was baptized on Aug. 18, 1940, at Immanuel Lutheran Church near Utica, and confirmed her Christian faith on March 29, 1953, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Utica. Verona graduated from Utica High School in 1957, where she was active in volleyball, cheerleading, and was the homecoming queen that year.

On Oct. 4, 1958, Verona was united in marriage to John Schoepf at Immanuel Lutheran Church near Utica. In 2018, John and Verona celebrated 60 years of marriage with their three daughters and their families.

Verona was the property manager of Lakewood Rentals, which she and John started in 1982, until her death. She enjoyed bowling, canning produce from her garden, and sewing. Through the years, she made hundreds of baby blankets with patchwork and satin trim. These blankets were donated to shelters, hospitals, and even a mission in the Dominican Republic.

Verona lived her life to the fullest; she always had a smile and was easy to love.

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intentions of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and proclaiming, 'Wow, what a ride!!!'

Verona is survived by husband, John Schoepf of Columbus; daughter, Kim Schoepf of Columbus, grandson, Adam (Arinna) Hoffman of Valentine, grandson, Kameron Klozenbucher of Wilbur, granddaughter, Katherine Klozenbucher of Hastings; daughter, Pamula (David) Phillips of Columbus, granddaughter, Amy (Jeff Brown) Phillips of Columbus, granddaughter, Dr. Alicia (Matt) Buttner of Elkhorn, grandson, Collin Phillips of Elkhorn, granddaughter, Paige (fiancé Nicholas Obradovich) Phillips of Omaha; daughter, Kelly Schoepf of Omaha, granddaughter, Bijana Valentino of Omaha; six great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Maribelle Gierhan of Utica; one niece and one nephew.
