Viola Wemhoff, 89, of Humphrey, died Friday, Nov. 16, 2018, at Countryside Home in Madison.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 20, at St Francis Catholic Church in Humphrey, with the Rev. Patrick McLaughlin celebrating the Mass. Interment will be in the St. Francis Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3–7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 19, at the church, with a 3 p.m. Christian Mothers Rosary, and a 7 p.m. vigil service. The visitation will continue from 9–10 a.m. on Tuesday at the church.

Viola was born Feb.12, 1929, in Humphrey, to Joe and Cecelia (Wieser) Fuchs. She grew up in Humphrey, and graduated from Humphrey St. Francis High School in 1947. On Feb. 3, 1948, Viola was united in marriage to Ludwig Wemhoff in Humphrey. Viola was a stay-at-home mom, and stayed very busy raising their 13 children. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, gardening, and canning. Viola also liked to make pillows and play a good game of Sheepshead.

Viola is survived by son, Dan (Mary Beth) Wemhoff of Altoona, Iowa, son, Ken (Corrina) Wemhoff of Wahoo, son, Elmer (Jane) Wemhoff of Lincoln, son, Erv (Cheryl) Wemhoff of Lincoln, son, Harry (Joan) Wemhoff of Humphrey, son, Ted (Angie) Wemhoff of Columbus, daughter, Cecilia (Dennis) Anderson of Humphrey, daughter, Joan (Larry) Korth of Creston, son, Randy (Joan) Wemhoff of Octavia, son, Dale (Kelly) Wemhoff of Humphrey, daughter, Sandy (Special friend-Danial Woodliff) Ekstrom of Poplar Grove, Illinois; daughter-in-law, Julie Wemhoff of Columbus; son, Keith (Katie) Wemhoff of Wichita, Kansas; 40 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren; sister, Eileen Wessel of Madison, sister, Marty Pfeiffer of Papillion and sister, Joanie Schauburg of Grand Island.

Viola was preceded in death by parents, Joe and Cecelia Fuchs; husband, Ludwig Wemhoff; son, Kevin Wemhoff; great-granddaughter, Scarlett Joan Hilger-Carroll; son-in-law, Larry Laska; brothers, Jim, Lenny, Fr. Loran, and Victor Fuchs; sisters, Celie Pinger, Betty Fuchs, and Clara Fuchs.
