William "Bill" Leitschuck, 78, of Monroe, died Monday, Feb. 4, 2019, at Genoa Community Hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 8, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Genoa. There will be a 7 p.m. vigil service Thursday, Feb. 7, in the church. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday at the church. Visitation will continue from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Friday at the church. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Swanson Post #322.
Bill was born Sept. 27, 1940, to William and Rose (Martin) Leitschuck in Pawnee City. He and his family moved to Boone County at the age of 2. Bill attended school in Boone County until his junior year. He was in the Army for two years before being honorably discharged.
Bill was married Aug. 3, 1967, to Janice Campbell at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spalding. They lived in Columbus until 1977, when they moved to Monroe. Bill worked at Behlen Manufacturing in Columbus for 33 years before retiring 2001. Bill was a member of the Monroe Legion Post #322. He was a devoted husband, and a loving father and grandfather. He was a huge Nebraska football fan, enjoyed his grandchildren and taking care of his yard. Janice and Bill celebrated their 50th anniversary on Aug. 3, 2018.
Bill is survived by his wife, Janice of Monroe; children: Katheryn (Dennis) Ray of Spalding, Dennis and special friend (Lori Johnson) of Albion, and David of Columbus; grandchildren: Brandon, Nicholas, Trevor, Amanda, Dalainee and Kadence. He is also survived by sister, Marilyn Wallick of Algona, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Pat Leitschuck of Lincoln and Berdina Leitschuck of Grand Island; many nephews and nieces.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Rose; brothers, Keith and Gerald; brother-in-law, Loran Wallick; and nephew, Steve Wallick.
