William Eihausen

William "Bill" Eihausen, 83, of Columbus, died Friday, Feb. 1, 2019, at CHI Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9, at St. Luke's United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Adam Lassen officiating. There will be a visitation from 1–2 p.m. on Saturday at the church. Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Hartman Post 84 Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Luke's Church or the American Heart Association.

Bill was born Dec. 5, 1935, in Columbus, to John and Della (Enzminger) Eihausen. He attended school in Platte Center, and graduated from Platte Center High School in 1953. He then went to School of Commerce for two years, where he learned Code Talk for military communications and was employed by NW Railroad in Blair.

Bill entered the U.S. Army on Aug. 25, 1955, and was honorably discharged on July 25, 1958. On April 18, 1959, Bill was united in marriage to Wanda Schild in Columbus. He worked as an account executive at Vishay Dale Electronics for 39 years, before retiring in 1998. Bill was a member of the V.F.W., where he enjoyed going, along with the American Legion, to the monthly chicken nights and playing cards with his friends. He loved to spend time at his cabin with family, and taking his sons and grand-kids fishing, boating, and ice skating. Bill liked to watch television, especially sports, and followed the Rams and the Dodgers. Bill was faithful to his church, staying active in various organizations. He was an officer in the Platte Center Alumni. Bill also enjoyed taking his dog Sammie on walks.

Bill is survived by wife, Wanda Eihausen of Columbus; son, Randy Eihausen of Phoenix, son, Rick Eihausen of Columbus, son, Russ (Pam) Eihausen of Bennington; two grandchildren: Andrew and Kelsey; brother, John “Jack” Eihausen of Omaha; sister, Joyce Barnes of St. Louis; many nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by parents, John and Della Eihausen; and sister, Doris Langan.
