To the Editor:
I’m a Boy Scout who lives in Columbus, and I wanted to share my opinion on the article about expanding the Nebraskan prison facilities.
It says in the article that it could cost $130 Million to expand the current facilities which will give about 840 total beds to the various correctional facilities. It also said in the paper that the facilities were currently at 4,918 inmates or 155% capacity and according to my math the extra beds would do little to help that percentage.
So, in my opinion, the money should go to correctional programs to help prevent people from going to prison, and to help current inmates from returning to a life behind bars.
