The executive director of the Nebraska Republican Party said Wednesday that Creighton University ought to rescind its invitation to former Sen. Bob Kerrey to deliver the university's 2019 commencement address.
"Bob Kerrey voted five separate times against banning the grisly and inhumane practice of partial-birth abortion while in the United States Senate," Ryan Hamilton said. "He has a lifetime score with the National Right to Life of just 4%.
"Creighton is a Jesuit institution formally affiliated with the Catholic Church, one of the country's most consistent and reliable advocates for pro-life causes," Hamilton added.
"Nebraska is a pro-life state and Republicans are a pro-life party," he said.
Kerrey, Nebraska's former governor and former U.S. senator, is scheduled to address commencement ceremonies May 18.
