PAPILLION, Neb. (AP) — A Bellevue woman pleaded no contest Friday to misdemeanor motor vehicle homicide in a wreck that killed a motorcyclist.
Susan Barrett, 74, was charged after the Sept. 21, 2020, crash that killed Nicholas Scarpino-Vestal, 23.
Investigators said both drivers had a green light at an intersection but Barrett turned in front of Scarpino-Vestal, causing the motorcycle to hit Barrett's vehicle. Scarpino-Vestal was thrown from the cycle and died later at a hospital.
Barrett was released pending a presentence investigation. A sentencing date was not scheduled.
She faces a maximum of one year in prison and a $1,000 fine.
