• Jan. 10 dinner guests of Florence Stevenson at her home were Fred and Joan Lambrecht of Lincoln, Cliff and Rojean Lambrecht of Columbus, Janet Lambrecht of Schuyler and Ken Stevenson of Richland. Following the meal the afternoon was spent playing Mexican train dominoes. Later the group had dessert before returning home.

• Florence Stevenson of Richland accompanied Tom, Julie and Madison Stevenson of Aurora to the Columbus and Aurora boys basketball games on the evening of Jan. 12 at Columbus High School. Jordan, the son of Tom and Julie, is a player on the Aurora team. Also attending were Glenn and Dianne Moural of rural Schuyler and Kurt and Angie Moural of Aurora. Caleb, the son of Kurt and Angie, is also on the Aurora team. Aurora won the junior varsity and varsity games.

• Charlene Klug of Columbus attended the Platte Valley Playhouse matinee of "Savannah Sipping Society" on Jan. 14 at Central Community College.

• Jerel and Carol Engel of Richland spent the weekend of Jan. 13 at the home of Dr. Larry and Jackie Volz, Mary, Emily and Lauren of Dakota Dunes, South Dakota. They went to celebrate Lauren’s 13th birthday, which was on Jan. 13. They all enjoyed a meal at a restaurant then attended the rodeo at Tyson Events Center in Sioux City.

• Quient Schaffer of Richland attended the art exhibit on display at Columbus Art Gallery. “Grizzly,” a bronze statue created by Dana Hoppe, son of Fred Hoppe, is part of the Ernestine Quick Memorial Art Exhibit and Competition at the art gallery.

• Lorene and Skip Oehlrich of Richland attended the invitational wrestling tournament on the morning of Jan. 14 at the gym in Schuyler. Their grandson Kipton, son of Nathan and Tori Oehlrich, participated in the tournament. He won his matches.

• Members of the Queens Card Club met at noon Jan. 15 and had dinner at the Columbus Community Center with Lou Ann Everett as the hostess. Following the meal sheephead was played with Marlene Koopman receiving high and guest player Lois Streblow was low. Others present were Betsy Hitz, Dorothy Struebing, Marilyn Lusche, guest player Linda Bowen and Elaine Hake, who will host the club in February.
