NCC students earn degrees

NORFOLK — More than 250 students completed their degree, diploma or certificate programs in the summer and fall from Northeast Community College.

The following area students earned degrees:

Associate of Arts degree

Clarkson: Sheldon Oenbring

Howells: Destiny Risch

Schuyler: Brittney Korth

Associate of Applied Science degree in criminal justice

Schuyler: Jeffrey Black Jr.

4-H club holds meeting

The Colfax Clovers 4-H Club had a meeting Jan. 5 at the Schuyler Fire Hall with 13 members present.

Presentations were given by Reese Inselman, who made homemade lava lamps, and Hayden Vopalensky, who made homemade paint. New officers for the new year were elected as follows: President Audrey Ruskamp, Vice President Eliza Bailey, Secretary Nora Ruskamp, News Reporter Hayden Bailey and Citizenship Leader Reese Inselman. Our club leader Jill Ruskamp also reviewed some goals for 2018. As a club we made plaster sculptures. The snacks were brought by the Eliza, Hayden and Lindley Bailey.

The next meeting will be Feb. 2.

FCCLA members compete at event

DAVID CITY — The District 5 FCCLA STAR Events contest was held Jan. 19 in David City.

FCCLA members from Boone Central, David City, East Butler, High Plains, Howells-Dodge, Humphrey, Clarkson/Leigh, St. Edward and Twin River participated in this year’s contest.

The 53 members representing Howells-Dodge were: Hospitality, Tourism and Recreation – Seth Cech and Brad Kratochvil, bronze medalists; Focus on Children Jr. – Cassie Pieper, Logan Fiala and Jill Grovijohn, silver medalists.
