Happy Thanksgiving from everyone at your library!

We are deep into the holiday season with two down (Halloween and Thanksgiving) and two to go (Christmas and New Year’s). As the latter two approach we know we are heading toward the end of fall and beginning of winter. As the days grow shorter and colder, there is no better place to seek refuge than your library.

Even as I write this we are preparing to put a new collection of books onto our shelves, so there is sure to be something for everyone to enjoy when we stay indoors.

New for our juvenile and young adult readers are: “Goddess Girls-Amphitrite the Bubbly,” “The Geography of You and Me,” “The Shadow Throne,” “Sophia’s First Christmas,” “Pinkalicious and the Sick Day,” “El Chavo-Crazy for Wrestling,” “Since You’ve Been Gone,” “Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood-Snowflake Day!” “The Ban Chronicles,” “Fearsome Creatures of the Lumberwoods,” “Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood-Daniel Visits the Library,” “Fairy Tales for Little People,” “The Illustrated Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” and “My Life With the Walter Boys.”

Some of our new adult fiction large-print books are: “The Crossing,” “Confessions-The Murder of an Angel,” “Crimson Shore,” “See Me,” “Depraved Heart,” “The Japanese Lover,” “The Golem of Paris,” “Corrupted,” “Avenue of Mysteries,” “Host,” “The Muralist,” “Vanishing Games” and “The Bazaar of Bad Dreams.”

We also have “Eighty-One Seconds” by Pilger native LaRayne M. Topp. The book chronicles the destructive tornadoes that hit Pilger, Stanton, Wakefield and Wisner on June 16, 2014, and how those communities came together in the aftermath.

If you love movies, your library has plenty of new DVDs to choose from including: “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.,” “Paper Towns,” “The Final Girls,” “Pitch Perfect 2,” “Max,” “Ronaldo,” “Mr. Holmes,” “Mythica-A Quest for Heroes,” “A.D. The Bible continues,” “Downton Abbey Season 5,” “Enchanted Kingdom 3D,” “Inside Out,” “The Whale,” “Alvin’s Wild Adventures,” “Pixels,” “Barbie and Her Sisters in the Great Puppy Adventure,” “Toy Story That Time Forgot,” “Shelby,” “Santa’s Little Helper” and “Thomas’ Christmas Carol.”

For all our crafty patrons, we have some new bright glitter in holiday colors along with lots of glue sticks! Come on in, use our AccuCut machine to cut out some holiday ornaments, cover them with glitter and take them home to decorate your tree or school locker.

Get in the holiday spirit at your library!
