Schuyler students place at art competition
This year's Nebraska Scholastic Art Competition will be on display from the end of February through March in Omaha. The entries are judged on originality, skill level, and artistic voice. Awards are given for Honorable Mention, Silver Key, and Gold Key. Gold Keys are then judged at the National level against other golds,with results announced in March. Schuyler students earned the following awards: Astrid Mejia, Silver Key in drawing; Cassie Macholan, Silver Key in sculpture; Roselyn Gonzaalez, two Honorable Mentions for sculpture; Robert Fuentes, Gold Key and an Honorable Mention for drawings; Pam Garcia, Gold Key for drawing; Guadalupe Rodriguez, two Gold Keys, one Silver Key, and a Gold Key Portfolio (a first in Schuyler history).
Bazata earns degree
IOWA CITY, IOWA -- Nathan Bazata, a native of Howells, received a bachelor of science, sport and recreation management degree from the University of Iowa at the close of the fall 2017 semester.
