Central Community College-Columbus mens golf participated in a triangular hosted by Northeast Community College in Norfolk on Monday. After a warm weekend, more regular spring temperatures returned and golfers were forced to battle colder and wetter conditions.
The Raiders were lead in scoring by Carter Luedtke of Lakeview who posted an 81 and tied for sixth place followed by Ethan Paben shooting 86 and placing ninth.
The team will be back in competition on the Tuesday as they host the Tigers from Doane University at Elks Country Club. The dual is the final regular season event on the schedule.
“Carter could have easily place in the top three but a couple of holes really had a negative impact on his score due to the triple bogies he suffered," said head coach Britt Blackwell. "The team continues to show improvement during their practice rounds and should be ready to compete for the Regional Championship next week at York Country Club.”
The team began the season April 2 and 3 at the Blue River Classic hosted by Doane at Wilderness Ridge and Highlands Golf Course, both in Lincoln.
Luedtke also led the Raiders in that event with a combined scored of 176.
Central was back in action at the River Winds Golf Club in Blair on April 6. Luedtke topped Raider scores with an 82.
Paben led the team the next time out shooting an 81 to Luedtke's 82 at the College Heights Shootout at the College Heights County Club in Crete on April 15.
Central hosted its first home meet of the season in a triangular April 18 against Midland University and Union University. The Raiders were second with a 359 and led by Luedtke with an 84.
Monday's event was the sixth of the season followed by this upcoming Tuesday wrapping up the schedule. Central is then in action at the Regional Tournament May 1 and 2 at the York Country Club.
