St. Francis Flyers

Humphrey St. Francis, Boone Central and Cross County volleyball all earned victories on Tuesday night. 

The Flyers took down Palmer in a three-match sweep, Boone Central swept Fullerton and Cross County defeated Hampton and Shelton during a triangular. 

D-2 No. 6 Humphrey St. Francis def. Palmer, 25-10, 25-10, 25-14: Senior Caitlin Jarosz and freshman Kylee Wessel had nine kills each to help the Flyers bounce back from a loss to Clarkson/Leigh five days earlier. 

St. Francis served eight aces as a team, and junior Allison Weidner had three blocks. 

The win improves the HSF record to 13-4. The Flyers will be competing in the Goldenrod Conference Tournament which begins on Thursday. 

Boone Central def. Fullerton, 26-24, 25-15, 25-13: Senior Caitlin Nelson had 12 kills to help the Cardinals win their seventh game of the year. 

Freshman Mara Ranslem served five aces during the match and Nelson had three blocks. 

Boone Central improves to 7-17 with the win and will play at Hartington Cedar Catholic on Thursday. 

Cross County def. Hampton, 26-24, 25-18:  Cortlyn Schaefer had 10 kills and Erica Stratman had four blocks. 

Cross County def. Shelton, 25-20, 25-14: Stratman has six kills, while Schaefer and Chloe Sandell added five each to help the Cougars win their fourth-straight match. 

The two wins improves Cross County's record to 19-7.

Cross Country will host D-1 No. 9 Meridian and Giltner in a triangular on Thursday. 

Exeter-Milligan def. High Plains, 25-20, 25-14, 25-17: Junior Brianna Wilshusen and freshman Hailey Lindburg finished with seven kills each, but the Storm still fell in three sets. 

The loss drops High Plains to 13-10 on the season. 

High Plains will host D-2 No. 2 BDS and D-2 No. 1 Lawrence-Nelson in a triangular on Thursday. 

D-1 No. 9 Meridian def. Osceola, 25-9, 26-24: After a tough first set, Osceola forced Meridian to a 26th point in the second. 

Shelby/Rising City def. Osceola, 25-16, 25-12: Osceola struggled to get a win against the Huskies in the second half of the triangular.  

The two losses drops the Bulldogs to 7-16 on the season. 

Osceola will travel to McCool Junction on Thursday.

D-1 No. 5 Central Valley def. St. Edward, 25-18, 25-8: Central Valley proved to be too much for the Beavers to handle. 

Junior Emma Olson led St. Edward with four kills. 

Heartland Lutheran def. St. Edward, 25-18, 25-8: Olson led the Beavers with two kills, and freshman Gracie Baker served two aces.

The two loses drops St. Edwards's record to 3-18. 

The Beavers will be competing in the Goldenrod Conference Tournament starting on Thursday.  

Stanton def. Twin River, 25-16, 25-23, 25-16: Marissa Morris had 11 kills in the loss to Stanton. 

The loss drops the Titans to 7-17 on the season. 

Twin River will be competing in the East Husker Conference Tournament starting on Thursday.
