CLARKSON -- Clarkson/Leigh sprinted out to a big lead Thursday against Stanton, then held on for a 60-57 victory over the Mustangs.

The Patriots (4-15) led 20-3 after the first quarter only for Stanton (3-18) to turn around and score 25 points in the second quarter to slice Clarkson/Leigh’s lead to 36-28 at halftime. The Mustangs continued to creep closer in the third quarter, trailing by just three, 47-44, going into the fourth period, but the Patriots managed to hang on.

Broderick Sieh led the charge for Stanton with a game-high 18 points.

Daniel Beller and Tommy McEvoy scored 17 and 16 points, respectively, to lead Clarkson/Leigh, which plays at David City on Friday.

H/LHF 50,

Twin River 42

HUMPHREY -- Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family got out to an early lead on Thursday against Twin River, and that was enough to propel the Bulldogs to a 50-42 home win over the Titans.

H/LHF (12-9) led 18-11 after the first quarter and 26-18 at halftime. Twin River (7-13) matched the Bulldogs in the second half, but could never overcome the early deficit. It was 33-27, H/LHF, after the third quarter.

Ashton Dohmen scored 16 points to lead the Bulldogs and Bret Hanis added 10. Blaine Jaconi and Brandon Miller scored 10 points apiece for Twin River.

H/LHF plays at Oakland-Craig on Monday and the Titans host Class D-2, No. 7 Humphrey St. Francis on Friday.

Ralston 63,

Schuyler 55

SCHUYLER -- A poor first half doomed Schuyler on Thursday as the Warriors fell to Ralston 63-55.

The Rams (2-18) jumped out to leads of 12-5 after the first quarter and 36-21 at halftime. The Warriors (3-16) tried to rally in the second half, but dug themselves to big a hole. They cut it back to single digits in the third quarter, trailing 44-37 heading into the final period, but could get no closer.

Auston Hall scored 20 points for Schuyler and Jakub Langemeier added 14.

The Warriors, who have lost 12 games in a row, play at Raymond Central on Friday.

Hampton 54,

St. Edward 34

HAMPTON -- Trevor Rasmussen’s big game wasn’t enough for St. Edward as the Beavers lost to Hampton 54-34 on Thursday.

Rasmussen scored 24 points for St. Edward (2-16), but didn’t get much help from his teammates.

The Beavers led 12-9 after the first quarter, but the Hawks (7-12) came roaring back for a 23-17 lead. St. Edward still trailed by six, 38-32, going to the fourth quarter, but Hampton pulled away over the final eight minutes.

The Beavers host Elkhorn Valley on Saturday.

Madison 54,

David City 37

DAVID CITY -- Madison pulled away in the fourth quarter Thursday for a 54-37 win over David City.

The Dragons (6-13) outscored the Scouts 23-12 over the final eight minutes to get the road victory.

David City (8-12) led 11-9 after the first quarter, but Madison managed to sneak ahead to take a 19-18 lead at the break. The Dragons created some separation in the third quarter and led 31-25 going into the fourth period.

Will Danielson led the Scouts with 14 points. Keaton Hendren led Madison with 17 points and Jason Gonzalez added 16.

David City host Clarkson/Leigh on Friday.
