STROMSBURG — Cross County overcame a double-digit halftime deficit Thursday to beat Twin River 41-39 in Stromsburg.
The Cougars trailed 21-11 at halftime before their offense woke up and scored 30 points in the second half to get the win.
Colton Beebe scored a game-high 22 points to lead Cross County (6-6).
Twin River (4-9), which led 11-3 after the first quarter, got 13 points from Blaine Jacobi and 10 from Jaxson Hinkle.
The Titans held a two-point advantage at 28-26 heading into the fourth quarter.
Twin River plays Tuesday at Wisner-Pilger. Cross County hosts Dorchester on Tuesday.
NELIGH — Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family snapped a three-game losing streak Thursday with a 62-52 road win over Neligh-Oakdale (7-6).
Ashton Dohmen scored a game-high 18 points for the Bulldogs (8-5) while Bret Hanis added 11 points, six rebounds and seven assists.
H/LHF led 19-18 after the first quarter and slowly distanced itself over the course of the game. The Bulldogs were up 34-30 at halftime and 50-41 after three quarters.
H/LHF hosts Madison on Thursday.
Heatland Lutheran 59,
St. Edward 31
GRAND ISLAND — Trevor Rasmussen scored 18 points Thursday against Heartland Lutheran, but his St. Edward teammates added just 13 points in a 59-31 road loss to the Red Hornets.
The Beavers trailed 13-6 after the first quarter and 37-11 at halftime. Lutheran continued to pour it on in the third quarter, leading 54-19 before St. Edward outscored the Red Hornets 12-5 over the final eight minutes.
St. Edward (1-9) begins play Saturday in the Goldenrod Conference Tournament.
West Point-Beemer 56,
SCHUYLER — Schuyler lost its third straight game and fifth in the last six contests Thursday, falling 56-34 at home to West Point-Beemer.
The Cadets got off to a quick start, leading 11-2 after the first quarter. They stretched their lead to double digits by halftime and continued to pull away in the second half. WP-B took a 36-20 advantage into the final quarter.
Auston Hall scored a game-high 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds for Schuyler.
The Cadets were led by Chase Streeter, who made 5 of 6 shots and scored 13 points. Hunter Pilakowski added 11.
Schuyler (3-7) plays Tuesday at Central City.
