SHELBY — Only six players scored Thursday night for Shelby-Rising City, but that was enough for the Huskies to escape with a 63-54 victory over Clarkson/Leigh.

S-RC led 16-11 after the first quarter and 28-24 at halftime. The Huskies doubled that advantage to take a 43-35 lead into the final quarter of the Shelby Holiday Tournament matchup.

Jett Pinneo scored a game-high 17 points on just eight shot attempts for S-RC (3-4). He knocked down two 3-pointers and seven free throws to boost his total. Austin Coffin added 15 points on 5-for-8 shooting and Bailey Belt had 13 points.

Max Hoatson finished two points short of a double-double, scoring eight points and grabbing 14 rebounds while handing out five assists.

Anthony Bruhn had 14 points for Clarkson/Leigh (0-9). Daniel Beller and Haden Held scored 12 points each and Gerrett Schroeder was also in double figures with 11 points.

Thayer Central 34

LINCOLN — Pierce Eisenmenger and Riley Jarosz powered Class D-2, No. 8 Humphrey St. Francis to a 70-34 win over Thayer Central (2-5) on Thursday at the Nebraska Wesleyan Holiday Tournament.

Eisenmenger scored a game-high 23 points and Jarosz added 19 in the blowout victory. Trevor Pfeifer chipped in 11 points.

The Flyers (5-3) were rolling on offense from the opening tip, leading 21-9 after the first quarter. St. Francis poured in 43 first-half points to lead by 24 points at the break before cruising in the second half.
