Howells-Dodge 52, Homer 12: The Jaguars scored the first 22 points of the game and cruised to victory with 219 yards rushing on 30 carries by running back Levi Belina. Belina scored two of the first three touchdowns on runs of 1 and 2 then found the end zone again in the second quarter on a 17-yard dash then a 58-yard rumble. Howells-Dodge advances to a rematch with Lutheran High Northeast next Wednesday, a team the Jaguars defeated 50-27 in Week 4.
Osceola/High Plains 73, Elkhorn Valley 12: OHP allowed 203 yards passing but just 15 on the ground while jumping out to a 36-6 halftime lead and winning its sixth in a row. No Stormdog stats were available Thursday night. OHP advances to the second round next week on the road at Creighton after the 12th-seeded Bulldogs upset fifth-seeded Wisner Pilger 56-32.
Cross County 52, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge 26: The Cougars led by 24-14 in the third quarter then pulled away with four of the next six touchdowns. Isaac Noyd carried 14 times for 221 yards and three scores while Carter Seim touched it 18 times for 142 yards and two touchdowns. Cross Country rolled up 457 yards on the ground. Next up is a road game at second-seeded Bruning-Davenport-Shickley on Wednesday.

Humphrey St. Francis 68, Elgin/Pope John 6: St. Francis rolled to its fifth 60-plus point win of the season with 38 in the first quarter and 16 in the second for a 54-0 halftime lead. It was also the seventh time the St. Francis defense held an opponent to fewer than 10 points. Elgin/Pope John had just 122 yards of offense and averaged only two yards per rush on 27 carries. The Flyers advanced to round two next Wednesday at home against eight seed Lawrence-Nelson.
Clarkson/Leigh 58, Riverside 6: A bad snap over the head of the Riverside punter gave Clarkson/Leigh the first two points of the game and started a rout. The Patriots led 26-0 before Riverside scored its only points in the second quarter. Quarterback Lance Paprocki rushed 25 times for 163 yards and four touchdowns. Clarkson/Leigh advances to play third seed Sacred Heart in Falls City next Wednesday.
