It was a week where you took the good with the bad.
The bad was the rain. Just like the in-laws, or outlaws, they keep hanging around. But when it wasn't raining, the fishing was pretty good.
This year, the fish on the Platte River came up stream, all types of fish, and of good size. The Loup has been the same.
A lot of walleyes, too, but I won't reveal where X marks the spot.
Don Laudenklous' granddaughter Morgan Trausch caught a 5 pound, 8 ounce large mouth bass with a night crawler at Kopel's pit.
Connor Raush and Collin Rausch reeled in two flathead catfish with a pair of stringers, one weighing 34 pounds and another 12 pounds. Both were caught on the Loup Canal.
If you're headed out to look for your own catch, carry bug spray. Good luck!
