Boone Central Cardinals

Boone Central wrestling hosted its annual dual tournament on Saturday, going 2-3 in five duals.

The Cardinals defeated Norfolk Catholic and Boys Town and suffered defeats against Central City, Aurora and Wood River.

"We are not at our full potential yet," head coach Joshua Majerus said. "Some guys are injured, some guys are sick. With duals, having everyone is important. Overall, we wrestled tough. Last round against Wood River we put on the breaks and lost matches we shouldn't have. You can't give yourself a lead and fall to your back. It was not pretty. Aurora and Central City are very solid teams. It is nice to challenge ourselves against them."

Boone Central's first match of the day was against Norfolk Catholic in which the Cardinals won 48-36.

Ashton Schafer was the only Cardinal to win his match, pinning Noah Wattier in the first period.
