Hand followed a similar path with a semifinal loss before a pin ensured him state. He finished with a pinfall loss and settled for fourth.
Ben Kamrath lost 6-4 in the consolation semifinals, one round short of making it three Shamrocks at state.
Taylor was one of just two Scotus wrestlers among six to win a match last year at state. Hand was one of those, going 0-2.
Hand and Taylor begin the state tournament on Thursday in Omaha at 9:30 a.m.
