Texas A&M vs. Cal 5

California head coach David Esquer and Texas A&M head coach Rob Childress exchange lineups with the umpires prior to the start of a College World Series game at TD Ameritrade Park on June 21, 2011.

Nebraska’s search for a new baseball coach has remained quiet for more than a week.

But it appears there is one name that can be ruled out.

According to multiple sources on Tuesday, Rob Childress will stay put at Texas A&M, where he just completed his 14th season.

Childress' name has been prominent in speculation as a possible replacement for Darin Erstad, who resigned on June 3.

Childress was an assistant under Dave Van Horn and later Mike Anderson at Nebraska. He has led the Aggies to 13 NCAA Tournaments, including College World Series appearances in 2011 and 2017.

Childress, who made $800,000 in 2018, led the Aggies to a 39-23-1 this past season. His coaching staff includes former Huskers Will Bolt and Justin Seely.
