A proposal by Columbus Exposition & Racing will be reviewed by the Nebraska State Racing Commission in a meeting on Friday in Lincoln.
CER is seeking approval to change the number of racing days for the upcoming season at Ag Park that begins in August from 14 to 12.
Though exact dates have yet to be finalized, most of the schedule through the month of August to September will again include racing dates on Fridays and Saturdays as well as the traditional final day of racing, Labor Day.
The racing season will begin Friday, August 2 through Monday, September 2.
"CER will have live races and is continuing to seek community support to keep horse races in Columbus," Tom Jackson, CER vice president said Thursday.
CER was approved by the racing commission at its meeting in January for 14 race dates between August 2 and Sept. 2.
All six facilities that host at least one day of live racing in Nebraska were approved at that meeting. Ag Park hosts the second most live racing days in the state behind 31 held at Fonner Park in Grand Island between Feb. 22 and May 14.
Tracks are required to have at least one day of live racing in order to offer simulcast wagering.
