COLUMBUS — Aquinas Catholic and David City cross country continued their seasons on Thursday at the Scotus Central Catholic Invite at Lutjelusche Course.
Monarchs sophomore Robert Dalton captured his third medal of the season with a 12th-place time of 18 minutes, 59 seconds.
"I did pretty good. I PR'd (Thursday) so feeling good," Dalton said. "I wanted to push it on those hills. Just trying to catch other guys when I can."
In his first high school cross country season, Dalton brought home medals in three of the four meets. The sophomore placed at fifth at East Butler and claimed bronze at Fremont Bergan.
"I've been doing pretty good. I'm about where last year's senior was, so I'm been feeling pretty good about this season," Dalton said. "I think I've really impressed myself. Just really impressed with how I've been doing this year. I'm right there at qualifying for state, so really trying to work hard for that."

Aquinas ran shorthanded on Thursday as three boys ran the race and junior Riley Campbell and senior Lydia Meysenburg did not run the girls race.
Monarchs sophomore Emmett Kadavy placed 45th with a time of 21:06 and freshman Steven Krafka clocked in at 21:41 for 54th.
"I think we've done pretty good," Dalton said. "We've been putting in the efforts to do well."

The Aquinas girls placed ninth. Monarchs freshman Danica Romshek just missed out on a medal finishing 17th with a time of 23:01. Freshman Kyshia True-Nielsen recorded a time of 24:42 for 43rd and freshman Emily Schmid posted a time of 26:29 for 65th.
David City placed seventh in the boys race and 10th in the girls race. Scouts sophomore Manny Venegas continued his strong season with a 20th-place time of 19:42.
"Pretty all right. I was hoping to do what I did last week. I did way better," Venegas said. "I thought I was going to attack the hills really good and the cruise down and start passing opponents on downhill."

Venegas, who didn't medal last season, entered Thursday claiming medals in each of the first three meets this season. The sophomore placed 11th at East Butler, 14th at Schuyler and took home silver at West Point-Beemer.
"Pretty good. I got second out at West Point. This year is my second year running and I just thought do good and get in shape for wrestling," Venegas said. "I've done way better than I thought would this year. I prepared myself way better over the summer and all that."
Scouts sophomore Neil Zrust crossed the finish line in 24th with a time of 20:02. Junior Caelan Olson posted a time of 21:30 for 49th.
"We've ran pretty good, way better than last year," Venegas said. "We've improved a lot. We won the runner-up (at West Point-Beemer) and it's been since like 2010 since we've done that."

David City junior Jaelyn Dvorak led the girls with a time of 24:26 for 37th. Scouts sophomore Aaliyah Huerta-Cruz placed 47th recording a mark of 25:03. Senior Natalia Thoendel clocked in at 26:25 for 64th.
Aquinas heads to the North Bend Invite on Thursday at North Bend Golf Course. David City raced at the Malcolm Invite at Branched Oak Lake on Tuesday.
East Butler
East Butler ran at the Fillmore Central Invite on Thursday at Hidden Hills Country Club. The Tiger boys placed 11th and the girls placed 12th.
Tigers junior Chance Rohda recorded the fastest time on the team of 19:18.2 for 42nd. Freshman Isaiah Hilton finished 52nd with a time of 19:40.5. Senior Anthony Sesemann completed the race right behind Hilton with a 53rd-place time of 19:43.1.
