The Schuyler Community Schools Foundation presented the 13th annual Distinguished Alumni Awards during the commencement ceremony on May 17 in the SCHS West Gymnasium.
Four Schuyler graduates were honored for their outstanding leadership, service, scholarship and significant contributions to their communities, states and nation. The purpose of the award is not only to recognize outstanding alumni but also to inspire the community's youth to strive for high achievement.
Making the presentation was Brian Vavricek, SCS Foundation vice president. The 2026 Distinguished Alumni are:
- Marvin R. Kohler, Entrepreneur
- Dwaine W. Ladwig, Law Enforcement Officer
- Catherine T. Montgomery, Educator, Adventurer, Conservationist and Activist
- Mary K. Peschel, Public Servant and Community Volunteer
A dinner honoring the award recipients and their families was held at the Performing Arts Auditorium prior to the commencement ceremony. A permanent display of the SCS Distinguished Alumni plaques is located in the Schuyler Central High School East Commons.
